Invite scientists, social workers to convocation ceremonies not only the politicians

As I am observing since my graduation days (2006), most universities invite political leaders as chief guests of convocation ceremonies especially in the North and Middle parts of India.

After getting this question in mind why universities do not invite renowned academicians, researchers, scientists rather than inviting political leaders, I personally disagreed with the decisions of institutes. Though I am not an authorized person in any educational institute I would like to suggest the institutes call renowned scientists, researchers, and other academicians who motivate the young scholars instead of inviting only politicians.
Maybe I am using the wrong word but I can say, many politicians are not literate enough in India but they enlighten the ceremonial functions of higher educational institutes as the main speakers and chief guests. They distribute degrees to the students in black traditional gowns and students become happy. They start posting photos on social media and feel proud of receiving degrees from a famous political leader.
If you are calling guests and speakers for institutes that offer higher education and promote research works, they should at least call some educated and renowned academicians so that youngsters get inspired and decide to follow the path. In my opinion, any institute is traditionally inviting only political leaders in every ceremony means the institute is promoting this particular field instead of focusing on academics and research work. There are many scientists and young innovators in India and I think every state has some renowned innovators who can inspire the young generation. Apart from scientists, innovators, there are many professors, teachers who have done something out of the box. There are many people working for society and social causes. These people should be invited to address the ceremonies and distribute degrees to the youngsters.
